Winter Woodland Christmas Dining Room

I wanted to create kind of a winter forest feeling in our dining room this year. I used mostly items that I already had and searched through all of my Christmas decor to find pieces that would go with my vision.

To start with, I brought in lots of earth tones like forest greens, browns, whites, and silver to capture the essence of a snowy forest. I also included a variety of natural elements such as faux greenery, twigs, pine cones, snowflakes, and trees. Lastly, I added in twinkle lights and candles to bring in a little warmth. In the end, I think it turned into the perfect cozy space to celebrate the holidays.

If you’re looking to create a similar vibe in your own space, I thought I would break down the various spaces in the room for you. I think these ideas can really be used in a variety of different decor styles, so go ahead and put your own spin on them!

Christmas Centerpiece

I got these black candlesticks a couple of months ago and knew that I wanted to use them for a Christmas centerpiece. The candles are battery operated and have a pretty faux candle flicker. They’re easy to turn on and off with a remote control and even have a timer function.

I placed some faux touch greenery around them along with a snowy pinecone lighted garland for that perfect woodsy touch. And, it looks so pretty when it’s all lit up!

Christmas Sideboard

Our Christmas sideboard holds a variety of functional pieces that I will be using throughout the holidays. I kind of love how it all came together.

I added a swag to the large hanging basket above our sideboard using greenery, pinecones, and some green velvet ribbon. The swag is just hung over the top of the basket by folding down the stem of the greenery.

I also put together a little hot chocolate bar using a couple of glass tree jars to hold the hot chocolate powder and marshmallows. I love adding different coffee syrups for a little flavor variation and used these DIY coffee bar labels to decorate the pumps.

This cute glass tree beverage container is another favorite of mine from this year’s purchases. I need to come up with some green Christmas punch to put in it. lol!

Christmas Cabinet

Our Pottery Barn cabinet is one of my favorite things to decorate each season. I found these juniper berry mugs and platters at Superstore {it’s a local grocery store if you’re not in Canada!} and they kind of set the tone for the rest of the dining room.

I love the whites and greens together while the wood pieces add a touch of warmth. The juniper berry pieces from Superstore went perfectly with these faux juniper sprays that I purchased a couple of years ago.

Decorated Light Fixture

One of the first things I thought when I saw this light fixturethis light fixture was how pretty it would look draped in a Christmas garland! I used a real touch Norfolk pine garland twisted together with a twig garland over the top, and then hung some paper snowflakes using clear fishing wire.

Winter Wonderland Christmas Tree

We have our main Christmas tree up in our family room, but I love having a tree in the dining room so you can see it as soon as you walk in the house.

I used mostly white and silver ornaments on the tree to mimic snow and icicles, along with some snowflakes and a few woodland critters. For a little color, I added some green ribbon and a sprinkle of green ornaments.

I also like to dress up underneath the tree. I used my favorite antique train, along with some faux presents and a wood sled.

And the last thing that I wanted to show you are these cute pinecone candles. I purchased these last year and used them throughout the year. They ended up going perfectly with this winter woodland theme. They’re battery operated and come on automatically each day for a nice glow right when you enter the house.
